The Federation of European Materials Societies, FEMS consists of independent European societies active in the field of materials. The Swiss Association for Materials Science and Technology, SVMT has joined FEMS again in 2009. At the General Assembly in October 2009 in Glasgow, M. Hofmann-Amtenbrink was elected as member of the Executive Committee, which is made up of the President, the Immediate Past-President, the Vice-President and a minimum of five and maximum of eight members elected by the General Assembly. As member she is elected for a period of two years and can be re-elected for a further period of two years and will repersent SVMT and Switzerland in this function.
